As the big day approaches, it’s common for a bride to have a plethora of worries and concerns. This is the day that she has been waiting for, and a lot can go wrong. Fortunately, there are some things you can do to help make sure everything runs smoothly on the day of your wedding.
Bridal Shower
Bridal shower guests are typically female friends and family members of the bride. They usually include her cousins, college roommates, besties and sisters. It’s also common for her mother to invite her co-workers and friends from her social circles as well. Depending on how formal or informal the bridal shower is, it can include games and activities to break the ice and get people talking. Games can be anything from simple trivia questions to truth or dare, and are a great way to get acquaintances to bond over shared interests.
It’s also not uncommon to have the bridal party participate in the games and activities as well. This can be a fun way to introduce them all and give each person a chance to shine. As a result, it’s often a good idea to have a maid or matron of honor on hand to help with the more intricate parts of the event. They can offer emotional support to the bride and help with things like bustling her gown or affixing her veil.
During the ceremony, it’s important for the couple to keep in mind the reason they’re getting married and what it means to them. This will help them determine the tone and content of their vows and ensure that they’re speaking from the heart. They may also want to consider incorporating readings, performances and other meaningful elements into the ceremony.
A minister or officiant will begin the ceremony with a welcome and an opening blessing or invocation. Afterward, they’ll seat the couple and their guests, starting with the groom and his attendants, followed by the bride and her attendants (typically in pairs) and then the maid of honor and ring bearer. The couple will then exchange their rings and say their vows, repeating after the minister and each other.
After the couple says their “I dos,” they’ll have the recessional, where they’ll walk down the aisle together and be congratulated by all of their loved ones. Then it’s time to celebrate!
Before the wedding, it’s a good idea for the bride to drink plenty of water and have something to eat. This will keep her from feeling nauseous or fainting during the ceremony, and she’ll also be ready for her reception afterward. Additionally, she can use an at-home hair gloss a few days before her wedding to make her strands super-shiny and ready for the cameras. Finally, she should take a few stolen moments alone during the day to block out the noise, breathe deeply and focus on enjoying her special day.
