Bridal Showers and Registries

The bridal shower is the pre-wedding party for brides. Traditionally, this event is hosted by a female friend close to the bride. It may also be held at a restaurant, a winery or even a hotel. The goal is to celebrate the bride-to-be and help her prepare for her wedding day. Guests are often invited to bring gifts for the couple. The couple creates a registry that allows them to select items they want and need and keeps track of what they’ve already received.

While it’s not required, most couples tend to register at a department store like Macy’s or Bloomingdale’s, home furnishing stores such as Crate & Barrel or West Elm and stores that have kitchen supplies and linens such as Bed, Bath & Beyond. The couple also has the option to include experiences or cash funds on their registry as well.

When it comes to bridal, Zuhair Murad doesn’t hold back. His world-famous wedding dress line is infused with romance and femininity with each design feeling like it was written just for the bride. From body-conscious silks to sweeping chiffons, the designer’s intricate embellishments – floral lace and precise crystal work that seem to cascade down the mermaid silhouettes – make each gown one-of-a-kind.

Monique Lhuillier is another designer who doesn’t hold back on drama. Her gowns – worn by A-list celebs like Blake Lively, Taylor Swift and Gwyneth Paltrow – are feminine, sexy and absolutely gorgeous. The label’s seductive mermaid silhouettes and show-stopping trains are a dream come true for brides.

As more and more couples are opting for blowout weddings, we’re seeing a return to full ballgown silhouettes for the aisle walk. The result is a dramatic moment that provides a real fashion moment in photos. And the showstopping trains – think oversized, intricately beaded and elaborate lace placements – are just as stunning.
