Weddings are more than just a big celebration, they are an important symbol of love and commitment. They bring together communities and family members, and foster a sense of belonging, hope and unity. They serve as a powerful reminder that love is the basis for all human relationships. And while the pressure to plan the perfect wedding can be overwhelming, it is important to remember that what matters most on your big day are the vows you and your partner will make to one another.
Start planning your timeline for the day-of and share it with your wedding planner, vendors and anyone else who will be helping to coordinate your event. This is a great way to help everyone feel prepared for the big day, and also helps ensure that you don’t forget any details.
Meet with your officiant to discuss the ceremony and write your vows. Many officiants ask for a digital or physical reference book of images (pinterest is a good place to start!) so they can understand your vision for the ceremony. This will also be helpful for your florist!
Decide on a wedding color scheme and/or theme. This will set the tone for all of your design decisions, so choosing a theme early is a good idea. You can use the colors and themes to guide your floral, decor, food and drink choices, and music selections.
Order invitations and create a wedding website, if you haven’t already done so. Your website will be a great resource for your guests, allowing them to get all of the information they need in one place and eliminating the back-and-forth of emails and text messages. It should include all of the key information, including dates, times, locations, dress codes, registries, and transportation and lodging options.
Confirm times and locations with all of your vendors, and have a designated person to distribute final payments on the day-of. This will avoid the possibility of having a vendor show up on your day without payment, which can be stressful and unproductive!
Create your emergency kit, which should include items like a small sewing kit, tide to go pens, bandaids, Advil/ibuprofen, and extra water. This will be a lifesaver if something goes wrong on your wedding day, such as a stain, rip or hiccup!
Make sure that you have all of the items that you will need for your wedding day in your car. This will prevent any last-minute panics of having to run somewhere for an essential item!
Get plenty of sleep the night before! It’s important to be well-rested for a busy and exciting day.
Enjoy your day! Remember to take a moment to appreciate everything that you have been blessed with. This is a special and memorable time, so be sure to cherish every minute!
Take photos with your guests, and be sure to have someone take video throughout the day. You’ll want to have these memories for years to come!
